Colorado

We had a great trip to Colorado! The weather was wonderful--it's different going there this time of year, but really nice. The last time we went was during ski season and so this trip was a change of pace. Basically, Colorado is on sale during the fall. Nice hotels are much cheaper, nice restaurants are cheaper, and you don't have to fight crowds anywhere. We stayed in Denver the first night and then headed up to Vail for my friend Kelly's wedding. She was married in a beautiful church and I have to say, she looked absolutely stunning. They picked a perfect day to get married, and I was so glad to be able to share in it with her! Kelly deserves a really great guy and I'm happy to say she found him:) They are obviously very in love, and it meant a lot to get to see that in person. Congrats to Kelly and Rick! We are so excited for you guys to start your life together!

We had a lot of fun exploring Vail. My parents were there last fall and at their recommendation, we found some good spots to eat and hang out. We also ate brunch at Sweet Basil, a restaurant I have heard about and seen on Food Network (I'm an addict, its really sad) and we did some shopping in Vail Village. It reminds me of a little town in the Swiss Alps or something (not that I've been, but you know the look!) It was quaint and cute and would be a great place to go back and ski in the winter.

Boulder was next. We stayed with Lynne, my friend from Tennessee who has been out there for almost 6 years now. She lives right in the middle of town, next to Pearl St. (the main "drag" in Boulder). We went out for coffee and walked around Pearl St....Jude saw many kindred Baby Bjorn-ers while we were out! He ended up passing out at one point...we forgot to order him a coffee;)
Instead of going out, we put Jude to bed and picked up Thai food and a bottle of wine and stayed in. We had a ton to catch up on, and it was so good to spend some time together with Lynne. We don't see each other often enough, so our time is always special to me. She was great for humoring us by staying in....parenthood sure changes things! Jude loved her and flirted continuously until we left!

On Monday we went to Golden, CO to tour the Coors factory. Me and Jude aren't big beer drinkers, so Ted helped us with our many samples along the way! Golden is a cool little town and we ended up having lunch and hanging out for a while after the tour.
We spent the rest of our time in Denver. We'd been there before with Lynne a long time ago but hadn't spent much time there otherwise, so it was fun to wander around and see everything.

Jude behaved really well overall. I give him a B+ for his behavior:) He slept well 3 of the 4 nights.......except the night in Vail. I don't know WHAT happened, but he woke up every hour crying. Finally, at 5:30am, Ted took him out for a drive so I could get some rest and they came back with a huge coffee and very bloodshot eyes! He was somehow very chipper the next day, which Mom and Dad resented a bit! That night aside, he did great. He was quiet in the car and babbled about the scenery here and there, and happily bounced along in his Bjorn most of the time. He even did well on the flights. On the way home yesterday, he decided to explode in his diaper right as we were taking off.......he made a mess halfway up his back....the "fasten seatbelt" sign couldn't go off fast enough for me........I tried to hold him as still as possible and for anyone that's changed a diaper in an airplane bathroom, there's a special place in Heaven for you! I had to rip his onesie off DOWN instead of up so I wouldnt smear poop all over his face, and despite the horror show in the bathroom, he flew home rather happily. If only adults were so unaffected and unfazed by life's stressful events. But I guess "sh** happens," even on planes!
Today consists of unpacking, doing laundry, then packing again to go to Nashville. Everyone have a Happy Halloween!!!

Colorado looks beautiful this time of year, and I am so happy you are starting your photo collection of the three of you in fun places! Jude looks great as a sightseer and despite the poop explosion on the plane (which I swear is a baby primal instinct, written deep somewhere in their genetic makeup) and a night without sleep it sounds like he traveled like a champ. Have fun at home this weekend!
